Short answer

What is a salary band?

A salary band is the pay range, from a minimum to a maximum, that a company sets for one position or grade. Everyone in that role is paid somewhere inside the band: newcomers usually near the bottom, experienced people who fully meet the role around the middle, and only a few near the top. The band keeps pay decisions consistent and makes the salary budget predictable.
