Odoo is a Belgian business suite that started in 2005 as TinyERP, was later called OpenERP and has carried the Odoo name since 2014. It offers a large catalogue of apps — CRM, accounting, inventory, manufacturing, website and more — as an open-source Community edition and a paid Enterprise edition, often implemented with partners.
You need manufacturing planning or full statutory accounting in the same system
You want an open-source system to host and modify yourself
You plan a large implementation project with a partner
You need a very specific app that exists in Odoo's catalogue
Companies compare OrgLines and Odoo when they know they need an ERP but are wary of a long implementation project. Typically it is a trading, distribution or logistics company of a few dozen people that has outgrown spreadsheets and wants stock, orders, invoices and money in one place.
Odoo's strength is breadth and adaptability: a large catalogue of apps, open source code in the Community edition and a wide partner network that tailors it to each company. OrgLines takes a different route: a fixed set of modules that share one database and work out of the box, an AI assistant and an MCP server built into the core, and freight forwarding as a standard module.
One more difference matters early: OrgLines finance is management finance — cash, payments, budgets and plans tied to operations. Statutory accounting stays in your accounting system or in Microsoft Business Central, which OrgLines can sync with.
What OrgLines does differently
01
An AI assistant that asks before it acts
It works across CRM, mail, warehouse, finance and HR. Most changes are prepared as a proposal that shows exactly what will change, and nothing is written until you confirm. What it remembers is stored as records you can edit or delete.
02
An MCP server for Claude and other agents
Claude and other MCP-compatible agents can work with your leads, tasks, mail, ERP, logistics and HR under your permissions. OrgLines itself decides which writes need confirmation, and you can revoke an agent's access in settings.
03
Freight forwarding built in
Freight orders with your own statuses and milestones, carriers and rates, trips with vehicles, trailers and drivers, trip documents, weight records and a record of who brought the client and who ran the order.
04
Start with one module, add the rest later
Create a workspace, switch on the sections you need and import your data yourself. There is a Free plan to start, and add-on modules can be switched on or cancelled monthly.
05
Budgets you can trust later
Approved budget versions are frozen, a break-even view shows how much you need to earn to cover fixed costs, and archived scenarios are kept so you can see what you calculated back then.
06
Invoices in your own layout
A document designer for invoices and other documents; upload an existing PDF and the AI rebuilds it as an editable template you can compare with the original.
07
A Lead Center that does not let leads go cold
Leads from Meta lead forms, website forms and manual entry land in one inbox. Routing rules assign each new lead at once, and the responsible person is pinged when a lead waits longer than your threshold, with quiet hours you set.
08
Microsoft Business Central when you need it
An add-on integration keeps data in sync between OrgLines and Business Central, so statutory accounting can stay there while operations run in OrgLines.

Where the two overlap
Both cover the core of a small-business ERP, so for a trading company the list of basic objects is much the same.
CRM with leads, contacts and companies
Products, warehouses and stock movements
Sales and purchase orders, invoices
A website and online store on the product catalogue

How to move from Odoo to OrgLines
A move from Odoo does not have to stop sales for a day. Most of the work is deciding what really needs to move and letting both systems run side by side for a short time. We can help with the migration if you want.
Choose what moves. Usually that is active contacts, companies, open deals and products; closed history can stay in an export file as an archive.
Export from Odoo. Use its export function to save contacts, companies, products and open orders to a file.
Import with the wizard. Upload the file, map its columns to OrgLines fields, check the validation and import. Duplicates found later — for example two contacts with the same phone — can be merged into one record.
Connect your channels. Add mailboxes over IMAP/SMTP, connect Meta lead forms and your website forms, and switch on Telegram notifications for new leads.
Invite the team. Each person gets a role; access is set per section, and every change to permissions is logged.
Run both in parallel for a while. New leads and orders go to OrgLines, open deals are finished where they started, and you switch Odoo off once the team trusts the new setup.
FAQ
Questions about OrgLines vs Odoo
Didn't find an answer? Write to us and we will get back to you.
Usually not. You create a workspace, turn on modules and import data yourself; we help if you want.
Does OrgLines replace our accounting software?
No. OrgLines is management finance: money, payments and plans tied to operations. Statutory accounting can stay in your accounting system or in Business Central.
Can AI agents such as Claude work with our ERP data?
Yes, through the OrgLines MCP server. The agent sees only what your plan and role allow, and OrgLines decides on the server which changes need your confirmation.
Can we run several companies in one workspace?
Yes. Legal entities, branches and stores live in one workspace, with a read-only group view of stock and finance that does not merge their books.
Can I move my data from Odoo?
Yes. Export contacts, companies, deals or products to a file and bring them in with the OrgLines import wizard: upload, map the columns, validate, import. We can help with the migration.
Can we try OrgLines for free?
Yes. The Free plan is for one user and includes the personal workspace, contacts, organizations, the Lead Center, mail, Telegram notifications and a monthly allowance of AI credits. Team features come with paid plans.
